Efficient pump solutions for better district heating systems.
Let’s energise tomorrow.
The energy landscape is rapidly evolving. Consumers are demanding increased comfort – but to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, we’ll need energy-efficient, cost-effective solutions that are ready for large-scale implementation.
That’s where district heating comes in. With its efficient distribution of large amounts of heat across expansive areas, it has become one of the most popular heating forms in the world.
At Grundfos, we offer intelligent solutions that optimise district heating system performance. Our comprehensive range of reliable and connected solutions are designed to maximise energy efficiency, improve control and minimise CO2 emissions.
But we’re not just a solutions provider. We’re a strategic partner with more than50 years of experience within district heating – and we can help you achieve aseamless green energy transition.

Danish utility controls low-temperature district heating with Grundfos iGRID
Albertslund Forsyning, a district heating utility for a suburb of Copenhagen, wanted to reduce its district heating supply temperature from 100°C to 60°C to reduce heat loss in the pipes and save energy. After experimenting with its own above-ground low-temp shunts for years, it installed a submerged Grundfos iGRID shunt/low-temperature mixing station. Not only has it proved to be a cost-beneficial solution for the low-temperature strategy, but the utility realises the benefits of now being able to use renewable energy sources and surplus heat from buildings – plus making the overall system more efficient.
Achieving intelligent heat management with Grundfos iGRID
OPEC Gdynia, a Polish district heating operator, worked with Grundfos on a pilot project to install an iGRID Temperature Zone on a subsection of the heating grid. With its automatic temperature reduction and control, it is now possible to reduce heat loss and lower the flow temperature while maintaining comfort for residents and businesses. The new solution also lowers costs and energy use, helps reduce carbon emissions, and has made the system future-ready as the lower temperature conditions make it possible to connect to low-temperature renewable sources such as solar, wind or geothermal energy and heat recovery.
